ΥΚΑΙ. καὶ τὸν ὕκην Καλλίμαχος ἐν ἐπιγράμμασιν ἱερὸν ἰχθὺν καλεῖ διὰ τούτων· θεὸς δέ οἱ ἱερὸς ὕκης. Νουμήνιος δʼ ἐν Ἁλιευτικῷ· σπάρον ὕκας ἀγεληίδας ἐπὶ φάγρον πέτρῃ ἀλωόμενον. Τίμαιος δʼ ἐν τῇ ιγʹ τῶν ἱστοριῶν περὶ τοῦ Σικελικοῦ πολιχνίου (λέγω δὲ τῶν Ὑκάρων) διαλεγόμενος προσαγορευθῆναί φησι τὸ πολίχνιον διὰ τὸ τοὺς πρώτους τῶν ἀνθρώπων ἐλθόντας ἐπὶ τὸν τόπον ἰχθῦς εὑρεῖν τοὺς καλουμένους ὕκας καὶ τούτους ἐγκύους· διʼ οὓς οἰωνισαμένους Ὕκαρον ὀνομάσαι τὸ χωρίον. Ζηνόδοτος δέ φησι Κυρηναίους τὸν ὕκην ἐρυθρῖνον καλεῖν. Ἕρμιππος δὲ Σμυρναῖος ἐν τοῖς περὶ Ἱππώνακτος ὕκην ἀκούει τὴν ἰουλίδα· εἶναι δʼ αὐτὴν δυσθήρατον. διὸ καὶ Φιλητᾶν φάναι· οὐδʼ ὕκης ἰχθὺς ἔσχατος ἐξέφυγε.

CTS URN Retriever

The CTS URN retriever is a tool for retrieving and citing paragraphs, passages, and words in the text of the Deipnosophists by typing the corresponding CTS URN. The Digital Athenaeus is providing the text of the Teubner edition of the Deipnosophists by Georg Kaibel (1887-1890), which is cataloged as perseus-grc2 in the Perseus Catalog.

The syntax of the URNs follows the specification of the CITE Architecture.
