τῷ δὲ τοῦ μύρου ὀνόματι πρῶτος Ἀρχίλοχος κέχρηται λέγων· οὐκ ἂν μύροισι γραῦς ἐοῦσʼ ἠλείφετο. καὶ ἀλλαχοῦ δʼ ἔφη· ἐσμυρισμένας κόμας καὶ στῆθος, ὡς ἂν καὶ γέρων ἠράσσατο. μύρρα γὰρ ἡ σμύρνα παρʼ Αἰολεῦσιν, ἐπειδὴ τὰ πολλὰ τῶν μύρων διὰ σμύρνης ἐσκευάζετο καὶ ἥ γε στακτὴ καλουμένη διὰ μόνης ταύτης. ὁ δὲ Ὅμηρος τὴν μὲν χρῆσιν οἶδε τῶν μύρων, ἔλαιον δʼ αὐτὰ καλεῖ μετʼ ἐπιθέτου· ῥοδόεντι δʼ ἔχριεν ἐλαίῳ. καὶ ἀλλαχοῦ δὲ λέγει τι τεθυωμένον. καὶ ἡ Ἀφροδίτη δὲ παρʼ αὐτῷ τὸν Ἕκτορος νεκρὸν ῥοδόεντι ἔχριεν ἐλαίῳ ἀμβροσίῳ. καὶ τοῦτο μὲν ἐξ ἀνθέων. περὶ δὲ τοῦ ἐκ τῶν ἀρωμάτων σκευαζομένου, ἃ δὴ θυώματα ἐκάλουν, ἐπὶ τῆς Ἥρας λέγει· ἀμβροσίῃ μὲν πρῶτον ἀπὸ χροὸς ἱμερόεντος λύματα πάντα κάθηρεν, ἀλείψατο δὲ χρόα λευκὸν ἀμβροσίῳ ἑανῷ, τό ῥά οἱ τεθυωμένον ἦεν· τοῦ καὶ κινυμένοιο Διὸς ποτὶ χαλκοβατὲς δῶ ἔμπης ἐς γαῖάν τε καὶ οὐρανὸν ἵκετʼ ἀυτμή.

CTS URN Retriever
The CTS URN retriever is a tool for retrieving and citing paragraphs, passages, and words in the text of the Deipnosophists by typing the corresponding CTS URN. The Digital Athenaeus is providing the text of the Teubner edition of the Deipnosophists by Georg Kaibel (1887-1890), which is cataloged as perseus-grc2 in the Perseus Catalog.
The syntax of the URNs follows the specification of the CITE Architecture.

The icons on the left of each paragraph are links to external resources:
- list icon : automatic alignment of index entries with the Greek text of the Deipnosophists (indices by August Meineke, Georg Kaibel, and S. Douglas Olson);
- tag icon : POS tagging of the text through the OpenNLP POSTagger for Ancient Greek.
Using CTS URNs, it is possible to export citations of the Deipnosophists down to the word level. By selecting a portion of text holding down the ALT-key, users get a pop-up window with the CTS URN that identifies the selected chunk of text.
