ἐχρῶντο δʼ εἰς τὰς χεῖρας ἀποπλύνοντες αὐτὰς καὶ σμήματι ἀπορύψεως χάριν, ὡς παρίστησιν Ἀντιφάνης ἐν Κωρύκῳ· ἐν ὅσῳ δʼ ἀκροῶμαί σου κέλευσόν μοί τινα φέρειν ἀπονίψασθαι. Β. δότω τις δεῦρʼ ὕδωρ καὶ σμῆμα. ἔτι δὲ καὶ εὐώδεσι τὰς χεῖρας κατεχρίοντο τὰς ἀπομαγδαλίας ἀτιμάσαντες, ἃς Λακεδαιμόνιοι ἐκάλουν κυνάδας, ὥς φησι Πολέμων ἐν τῇ περὶ ὀνομάτων ἀδόξων ἐπιστολῇ περὶ δὲ τοῦ εὐώδεσι χρίεσθαι τὰς χεῖρας Ἐπιγένης Ἀντιφάνης φησὶν ἐν Ἀργυρίου ἀφανισμῷ οὕτως· καὶ τότε περιπατήσεις κἀπονίψει κατὰ τρόπον τὰς χεῖρας εὐώδη λαβὼν τὴν γῆν. καὶ Φιλόξενος δʼ ἐν τῷ ἐπιγραφομένῳ Δείπνῳ φησίν· ἔπειτα δὲ παῖδες νίπτρʼ ἔδοσαν κατὰ χειρῶν, σμήμασιν ἰρινομίκτοις χλιεροθαλπὲς ὕδωρ ἐπεγχέοντες τόσσον ὅσον τις ἔχρῃζʼ, ἐκτρίμματά τε .... λαμπρὰ σινδονυφῆ, δίδοσαν δὲ χρίματά τʼ ἀμβροσίοδμα καὶ στεφάνους ἰοθαλέας. CTS URN Retriever

The Digital Athenaeus is providing the text of the Teubner edition of the Deipnosophists by Georg Kaibel (1887-1890), which is cataloged as perseus-grc2 in the Perseus Catalog.

The syntax of the URNs follows the specification of the CITE Architecture.

Using CTS URNs, it is possible to export citations of the Deipnosophists down to the word level. By selecting a portion of text holding down the ALT-key, users get a pop-up window with the CTS URN that identifies the selected chunk of text.
