εἴρηται δὲ καὶ ὀψοφάγος, ἑταῖροι, καὶ τὸ ὀψοφαγεῖν. Ἀριστοφάνης ἐν Νεφέλαις δευτέραις· οὐδʼ ὀψοφαγεῖν οὐδὲ κιχλίζειν. Κηφισόδωρος Ὑί· οὐδʼ ὀψοφάγος οὐδʼ ἀδολέσχης. Μάχων Ἐπιστολῇ· ὀψοφάγος εἰμί. τοῦτο δʼ ἐστὶ τῆς τέχνης θεμέλιος ἡμῖν· προσπεπονθέναι τι δεῖ τὸν μὴ τὰ παραδοθέντα λυμανούμενον. πεφροντικὼς αὑτοῦ γὰρ οὐκ ἔσται κακός. ἔπειτʼ ἐπὰν καθαρὰ τᾀσθητήρια, οὐκ ἂν διαμάρτοις. ἕψε καὶ γεύου πυκνά. ἅλας οὐκ ἔχει· προσένεγκʼ. ἔτʼ ἐπιδεῖταί τινος ἑτέρου· πάλιν γεύου σύ, μέχρι ἂν ἡδὺς ᾖ, ὥσπερ λύραν ἐπίτεινʼ, ἕως ἂν ἁρμόσῃ. εἶθʼ ὁπόταν ἤδη πάντα συμφωνεῖν δοκῇ, εἴσαγε διὰ πασῶν νικολαίδας μυκόνιος. πρὸς τούτοις τοῖς ὀψοφάγοις, ἄνδρες ἑταῖροι, οἶδα καὶ τὸν παρʼ Ἠλείοις τιμώμενον Ὀψοφάγον Ἀπόλλωνα. μνημονεύει δὲ αὐτοῦ Πολέμων ἐν τῇ πρὸς Ἄτταλον ἐπιστολῇ οἶδα δὲ καὶ τὴν ἐν τῇ Πισάτιδι γραφὴν ἀνακειμένην ἐν τῷ τῆς Ἀλφειώσας Ἀρτέμιδος ἱερῷ (Κλεάνθους δʼ ἐστὶ τοῦ Κορινθίου), ἐν Ποσειδῶν πεποίηται θύννον τῷ Διὶ προσφέρων ὠδίνοντι, ὡς ἱστορεῖ Δημήτριος ἐν ὀγδόῳ Τρωικοῦ διακόσμου

CTS URN Retriever

The CTS URN retriever is a tool for retrieving and citing paragraphs, passages, and words in the text of the Deipnosophists by typing the corresponding CTS URN. The Digital Athenaeus is providing the text of the Teubner edition of the Deipnosophists by Georg Kaibel (1887-1890), which is cataloged as perseus-grc2 in the Perseus Catalog.

The syntax of the URNs follows the specification of the CITE Architecture.

Using CTS URNs, it is possible to export citations of the Deipnosophists down to the word level. By selecting a portion of text holding down the ALT-key, users get a pop-up window with the CTS URN that identifies the selected chunk of text.
