ΧΡΥΣΟΦΡΥΣ. Ἄρχιππος ἐν Ἰχθύσιν· ἱεροὺς Ἀφροδίτης χρυσόφρυς Κυθηρίας. τοὺς δʼ ἰχθῦς τούτους φησὶν Ἱκέσιος καὶ τῇ γλυκύτητι καὶ τῇ ἄλλῃ εὐστομίᾳ πάντων εἶναι ἀρίστους. εἰσὶ δὲ καὶ τροφιμώτατοι. τίκτουσι δέ, ὥς φησιν Ἀριστοτέλης, ὁμοίως τοῖς κεστρεῦσιν οὗ ἂν ποταμοὶ ῥέωσιν. μνημονεύει δʼ αὐτῶν καὶ Ἐπίχαρμος ἐν Μούσαις καὶ Δωρίων ἐν τῷ περὶ ἰχθύων. Εὔπολις δʼ ἐν Κόλαξί φησιν· δραχμῶν ἑκατὸν ἰχθῦς ἐώνημαι μόνον ὀκτὼ λάβρακας, χρυσόφρυς δὲ δώδεκα. δὲ σοφὸς Ἀρχέστρατος ἐν ταῖς ὑποθήκαις λέγει· χρύσοφρυν ἐξʼ Ἐφέσου τὸν πίονα μὴ παράλειπε, ὃν κεῖνοι καλέουσιν ἰωνίσκον· λαβὲ δʼ αὐτὸν θρέμμα Σελινοῦντος σεμνοῦ. πλῦνον δέ νιν ὀρθῶς, εἶθʼ ὅλον ὀπτήσας παράθες, κἂν δεκάπηχυς.

CTS URN Retriever

The CTS URN retriever is a tool for retrieving and citing paragraphs, passages, and words in the text of the Deipnosophists by typing the corresponding CTS URN. The Digital Athenaeus is providing the text of the Teubner edition of the Deipnosophists by Georg Kaibel (1887-1890), which is cataloged as perseus-grc2 in the Perseus Catalog.

The syntax of the URNs follows the specification of the CITE Architecture.
