Διοκλῆς δʼ ἐν αʹ Ὑγιεινῶν τὰ δὲ μαλάκια, φησί, πρὸς ἡδονὴν καὶ πρὸς τὰ ἀφροδίσια· μάλιστα δὲ οἱ πουλύποδες. ἱστορεῖ δʼ Ἀριστοτέλης τὸν πολύποδα ἔχειν πόδας ὀκτώ, ὧν τοὺς μὲν ἄνω δύο καὶ κάτω ἐλαχίστους, τοὺς δʼ ἐν μέσῳ μεγίστους· ἔχειν δὲ καὶ κοτυληδόνας δύο, αἷς τὴν τροφὴν προσάγεσθαι· τοὺς δʼ ὀφθαλμοὺς ἐπάνω τῶν δύο ποδῶν· τὸ δὲ στόμα καὶ τοὺς ὀδόντας ἐν μέσοις τοῖς ποσί. ἀναπτυχθεὶς δὲ ἐγκέφαλον ἔχει διμερῆ. ἔχει δὲ καὶ τὸν λεγόμενον θόλον, οὐ μέλανα καθάπερ σηπία ἀλλʼ ὑπέρυθρον, ἐν τῷ λεγομένῳ μήκωνι. δὲ μήκων κεῖται ἐπάνω τῆς κοιλίας οἱονεὶ κύστις. σπλάγχνον δʼ οὐκ ἔχει ἀναλογοῦν. τροφῇ δὲ χρῆται ἔστιν ὅτε καὶ τοῖς τῶν κογχυλίων σαρκιδίοις, τὰ ὄστρακα ἐκτὸς τῶν θαλαμῶν ῥίπτων· ὅθεν διαγινώσκουσιν οἱ θηρεύοντες. ὀχεύει δὲ συμπλεκόμενος καὶ πολὺν χρόνον πλησιάζει διὰ τὸ ἄναιμος εἶναι. τίκτει δὲ διὰ τοῦ λεγομένου φυσητῆρος, ὅς ἐστι πόρος τῷ σώματι. καὶ τίκτει ᾠὰ βοτρυδόν.

CTS URN Retriever

The Digital Athenaeus is providing the text of the Teubner edition of the Deipnosophists by Georg Kaibel (1887-1890), which is cataloged as perseus-grc2 in the Perseus Catalog.

The syntax of the URNs follows the specification of the CITE Architecture.
