ΠΟΥΛΥΠΟΥΣ, πουλύποδος. οὕτως φασὶν οἱ Ἀττικοί (ὡς καὶ Ὅμηρος· ὡς δʼ ὅτε πουλύποδος θαλάμης ἐξελκομένοιο) ἀνάλογον· παρὰ τὸ ποὺς γὰρ γέγονεν. τὴν δὲ αἰτιατικὴν πουλύπουν φασίν, ὡς Ἀλκίνουν καὶ Οἰδίπουν. καὶ τρίπουν δὲ λέβητα Αἰσχύλον εἰρηκέναι ἐν Ἀθάμαντι ἀπὸ ἁπλοῦ τοῦ ποὺς ὡς νοῦς. τὸ δὲ πώλυπον λέγειν Αἰολικόν· Ἀττικοὶ γὰρ πουλύπουν λέγουσιν. Ἀριστοφάνης Δαιδάλῳ· καὶ ταῦτʼ ἔχοντα πουλύπους καὶ σηπίας. καὶ πάλιν· τὸν πουλύπουν μοι ἔθηκε. καὶ πάλιν· πληγαὶ λέγονται πουλύπου πιλουμένου. Ἀλκαῖος Ἀδελφαῖς μοιχευομέναις· ἠλίθιον εἶναι νοῦν τε πουλύποδος ἔχειν. Ἀμειψίας Κατεσθίοντι· δεῖ μέν, ὡς ἔοικε, πολλῶν πουλύπων. Πλάτων Παιδίῳ· ὥσπερ τοὺς πουλύποδας πρώτιστα σέ. Ἀλκαῖος· ἔδω δʼ ἐμαυτὸν ὡς πουλύπους. οἳ δὲ πουλύποδα προφέρονται ἀνάλογον τῷ ποὺς ποδὸς ποδὶ πόδα. Εὔπολις Δήμοις· ἀνὴρ πολίτης πουλύπους ἐς τοὺς τρόπους.

The Digital Athenaeus is providing the text of the Teubner edition of the Deipnosophists by Georg Kaibel (1887-1890), which is cataloged as perseus-grc2 in the Perseus Catalog.

The syntax of the URNs follows the specification of the CITE Architecture.
