κόλακας δʼ εἶναί φησι Φύλαρχος καὶ τοὺς ἐν Λήμνῳ κατοικοῦντας Ἀθηναίων ἐν τῇ τρισκαιδεκάτῃ τῶν ἱστοριῶν χάριν γὰρ ἀποδιδόντας τοῖς Σελεύκου καὶ Ἀντιόχου ἀπογόνοις, ἐπεὶ αὐτοὺς ὁ Σέλευκος πικρῶς ἐπιστατουμένους ὑπὸ Λυσιμάχου οὐ μόνον ἐξείλετο, ἀλλὰ καὶ τὰς πόλεις αὐτοῖς ἀπέδωκεν ἀμφοτέρας, οἱ Λημνόθεν Ἀθηναῖοι οὐ μόνον ναοὺς κατεσκεύασαν τοῦ Σελεύκου, ἀλλὰ καὶ τοῦ υἱοῦ Ἀντιόχου· καὶ τὸν ἐπιχεόμενον κύαθον ἐν ταῖς συνουσίαις Σελεύκου σωτῆρος καλοῦσι. ταύτην δὲ τὴν κολακείαν τινὲς ἐκτρεπόμενοι τοὔνομα ἀρέσκειαν προσαγορεύουσιν, ὡς καὶ Ἀναξανδρίδης ἐν Σαμίᾳ· τὸ γὰρ κολακεύειν νῦν ἀρέσκειν ὄνομʼ ἔχει. οὐκ ἐπίστανται δὲ οἱ τὴν κολακείαν μεταχειριζόμενοι ὥς ἐστιν αὕτη ἡ τέχνη ὀλιγοχρόνιος. Ἄλεξις γοῦν φησιν ἐν Ψευδομένῳ· κόλακος δὲ βίος μικρὸν χρόνον ἀνθεῖ· οὐδεὶς γὰρ χαίρει πολιοκροτάφῳ παρασίτῳ. Κλέαρχος δʼ ὁ Σολεὺς ἐν τῷ πρώτῳ τῶν Ἐρωτικῶν· κόλαξ μὲν οὐδείς, φησί, διαρκεῖ πρὸς φιλίαν. καταναλίσκει γὰρ ὁ χρόνος τὸ τοῦ προσποιήματος αὐτῶν ψεῦδος. ὁ δʼ ἐραστὴς κόλαξ ἐστὶ φιλίας διʼ ὥραν ἢ κάλλος. τῶν δὲ Δημητρίου τοῦ βασιλέως κολάκων οἱ περὶ Ἀδείμαντον τὸν Λαμψακηνὸν νεὼν κατασκευασάμενοι καὶ ἀγάλματα ἱδρυσάμενοι Θριῆσιν ὠνόμασαν Φίλας Ἀφροδίτης καὶ τὸν τόπον Φιλαῖον ἐκάλεσαν ἀπὸ τῆς Δημητρίου μητρὸς Φίλας, ὥς φησι Διονύσιος ὁ τοῦ Τρύφωνος ἐν τῷ δεκάτῳ περὶ ὀνομάτων.

CTS URN Retriever
The CTS URN retriever is a tool for retrieving and citing paragraphs, passages, and words in the text of the Deipnosophists by typing the corresponding CTS URN. The Digital Athenaeus is providing the text of the Teubner edition of the Deipnosophists by Georg Kaibel (1887-1890), which is cataloged as perseus-grc2 in the Perseus Catalog.
The syntax of the URNs follows the specification of the CITE Architecture.

The icons on the left of each paragraph are links to external resources:
- list icon : automatic alignment of index entries with the Greek text of the Deipnosophists (indices by August Meineke, Georg Kaibel, and S. Douglas Olson);
- tag icon : POS tagging of the text through the OpenNLP POSTagger for Ancient Greek.
Using CTS URNs, it is possible to export citations of the Deipnosophists down to the word level. By selecting a portion of text holding down the ALT-key, users get a pop-up window with the CTS URN that identifies the selected chunk of text.
