Ἀπολλόδωρος δʼ Καρύστιος ἐν Ἱερείᾳ· καινόν γέ φασι Χαιρεφῶντʼ ἐν τοῖς γάμοις ὡς τὸν Ὀφέλαν ἄκλητον εἰσδεδυκέναι. σπυρίδα λαβὼν γὰρ καὶ στέφανον, ὡς ἦν σκότος, φάσκων παρὰ τῆς νύμφης τὰς ὄρνεις φέρων ἥκειν, δεδείπνηχʼ, ὡς ἔοικεν, εἰσπεσών. ἐν δὲ Σφαττομένῃ· καλῶ δʼ Ἄρη Νίκην τʼ ἐπʼ ἐξόδοις ἐμαῖς, καλῶ δὲ Χαιρεφῶντα· κἂν γὰρ μὴ καλῶ, ἄκλητος ἥξει. Μάχων δʼ κωμικός φησιν· ὁδὸν μακρὰν ἐλθόντος ἐπὶ δεῖπνόν ποτε τοῦ Χαιρεφῶντος εἰς γάμους ἐξ ἄστεος εἰπεῖν λέγουσι τὸν ποιητὴν Δίφιλον· εἰς τὰς ἑαυτοῦ, Χαιρεφῶν, σιαγόνας ἔγκοψον ἥλους ἑκατέρᾳ γε τέτταρας, ἵνα μὴ παρασείων καὶ μακρὰν ἑκάστοτε ὁδὸν βαδίζων τὰς γνάθους διαστρέφῃς. καὶ πάλιν· Χαιρεφῶν κρεᾴδιʼ ὠψώνει ποτέ, καὶ τοῦ μαγείρου, φασίν, ὀστῶδες σφόδρα αὐτῷ τι προσκόπτοντος ἀπὸ τύχης κρέας εἶπεν· μάγειρε, μὴ προσίστα τοῦτό μοι τοὐστοῦν. δʼ εἶπεν· ἀλλὰ μήν ἐστιν γλυκύ. καὶ μὴν τὸ πρὸς ὀστοῦν φασι κρέας εἶναι γλυκύ. Χαιρεφῶν δὲ καὶ μάλʼ, βέλτιστʼ, ἔφη, γλυκὺ μέν, προσιστάμενον δὲ λυπεῖ πανταχῇ. τοῦ Χαιρεφῶντος καὶ σύγγραμμα ἀναγράφει Καλλίμαχος ἐν τῷ τῶν παντοδαπῶν πίνακι γράφων οὕτως· δεῖπνα ὅσοι ἔγραψαν· Χαιρεφῶν Κυρηβίωνι. εἶθʼ ἑξῆς τὴν ἀρχὴν ὑπέθηκεν· ἐπειδή μοι πολλάκις ἐπέστειλας ... στίχων τοε. καὶ Κυρηβίων δʼ ὅτι παράσιτος προείρηται

CTS URN Retriever

The Digital Athenaeus is providing the text of the Teubner edition of the Deipnosophists by Georg Kaibel (1887-1890), which is cataloged as perseus-grc2 in the Perseus Catalog.

The syntax of the URNs follows the specification of the CITE Architecture.

Using CTS URNs, it is possible to export citations of the Deipnosophists down to the word level. By selecting a portion of text holding down the ALT-key, users get a pop-up window with the CTS URN that identifies the selected chunk of text.
