τὸν δὲ νῦν λεγόμενον παράσιτον Καρύστιος Περγαμηνὸς ἐν τῷ περὶ διδασκαλιῶν εὑρεθῆναί φησιν ὑπὸ πρώτου Ἀλέξιδος, ἐκλαθόμενος ὅτι Ἐπίχαρμος ἐν Ἐλπίδι Πλούτῳ παρὰ πότον αὐτὸν εἰσήγαγεν οὑτωσὶ λέγων· ἀλλʼ ἄλλος ἔστειχʼ ὧδε τοῦδε κατὰ πόδας, τὸν ῥᾳδίως λαψῇ τυ καιτοίνυν γαθην εὔωνον ἀείσιτον. Β. ἀλλʼ ἔμπας ὅδε ἄμυστιν ὥσπερ κύλικα πίνει τὸν βίον. καὶ αὐτὸν ποιεῖ τὸν παράσιτον λέγοντα τοιάδε πρὸς τὸν πυνθανόμενον· συνδειπνέων τῷ λῶντι, καλέσαι δεῖ μόνον, καὶ τῷ γα μὴ λιῶντι, κωὐδὲν δεῖ καλεῖν· τηνεὶ δὲ χαρίης τʼ εἰμὶ καὶ ποιέω πολὺν γέλωτα καὶ τὸν ἱστιῶντʼ ἐπαινέω. καἴ κά τις ἀντίον λίῃ τήνῳ λέγειν, τήνῳ κυδάζομαί τε κἀπʼ ὦν ἠχθόμαν. κἤπειτα πολλὰ καταφαγών, πόλλʼ ἐμπιὼν ἄπειμι· λύχνον δʼ οὐχ παῖς μοι συμφέρει· ἕρπω δʼ ὀλισθράζων τε καὶ κατὰ σκότος ἔρημος· αἴ κα δʼ ἐντύχω τοῖς περιπόλοις, τοῦθʼ οἷον ἀγαθὸν ἐπιλέγω τοῖς θεοῖς ὅτι οὐ λῶντι πλεῖον, ἀλλὰ μαστιγῶντί με. ἐπεὶ δέ χʼ εἵκω οἴκαδις καταφθαρείς, ἄστρωτος εὕδω· καὶ τὰ μὲν πρῶτʼ οὐ κοῶ, ἇς κά μʼ ἄκρατος οἶνος ἀμφέπῃ φρένας.

The Digital Athenaeus is providing the text of the Teubner edition of the Deipnosophists by Georg Kaibel (1887-1890), which is cataloged as perseus-grc2 in the Perseus Catalog.

The syntax of the URNs follows the specification of the CITE Architecture.
