πόσῳ δὲ κρεῖττον, ὦ Οὐλπιανὲ σοφώτατε, τὸ ὑδραυλικὸν τοῦτο ὄργανον τοῦ καλουμένου νάβλα, ὅν φησι Σώπατρος ὁ παρῳδὸς ἐν τῷ ἐπιγραφομένῳ δράματι Πύλαι Φοινίκων εἶναι καὶ τοῦτον εὕρημα. λέγει δʼ οὕτως· οὔτε τοῦ Σιδωνίου νάβλα λαρυγγόφωνος ἐκκεχόρδωται τύπος. καὶ ἐν Μυστάκου δὲ θητίῳ φησί· νάβλας ἐν ἄρθροις γραμμάτων οὐκ εὐμελής, ᾧ λωτὸς ἐν πλευροῖσιν ἄψυχος παγεὶς ἔμπνουν ἀνίει μοῦσαν. ἐγρέτου δέ τις τὸν ἡδονῆς μελῳδὸν εὐάζων χορόν. Α. τί φής; οὐκ οἶσθα νάβλαν; οὐδὲν οὖν οἶσθʼ ἀγαθόν. οὐδὲ σαμβυκίστριαν; καὶ τὸ τρίγωνον δὲ καλούμενον ὄργανον Ἰόβας ἐν τετάρτῳ θεατρικῆς ἱστορίας Σύρων εὕρημά φησιν εἶναι, ὡς καὶ τὸν καλούμενον λυροφοίνικα .... σαμβύκην. τοῦτο δὲ τὸ ὄργανον Νεάνθης ὁ Κυζικηνὸς ἐν αʹ Ὥρων εὕρημα εἶναι λέγει Ἰβύκου τοῦ Ῥηγίνου ποιητοῦ, ὡς καὶ Ἀνακρέοντος τὸ βάρβιτον. ἐπεὶ δὲ ἡμῶν τῶν Ἀλεξανδρέων κατατρέχεις ὡς ἀμούσων καὶ τὸν μόναυλον συνεχῶς ὀνομάζεις ἐπιχωριάζοντα παρʼ ἡμῖν, ἄκουε καὶ περὶ αὐτοῦ ἃ νῦν ἔχω σοι λέγειν ἐν προχείρῳ.

CTS URN Retriever
The CTS URN retriever is a tool for retrieving and citing paragraphs, passages, and words in the text of the Deipnosophists by typing the corresponding CTS URN. The Digital Athenaeus is providing the text of the Teubner edition of the Deipnosophists by Georg Kaibel (1887-1890), which is cataloged as perseus-grc2 in the Perseus Catalog.
The syntax of the URNs follows the specification of the CITE Architecture.

The icons on the left of each paragraph are links to external resources:
- list icon : automatic alignment of index entries with the Greek text of the Deipnosophists (indices by August Meineke, Georg Kaibel, and S. Douglas Olson);
- tag icon : POS tagging of the text through the OpenNLP POSTagger for Ancient Greek.
Using CTS URNs, it is possible to export citations of the Deipnosophists down to the word level. By selecting a portion of text holding down the ALT-key, users get a pop-up window with the CTS URN that identifies the selected chunk of text.
