Πυθοδήλου δέ τινος ἀσώτου μνημονεύει Ἀξιόνικος ἐν Τυρρηνῷ οὕτως· Πυθόδηλος οὑτοσὶ Βαλλίων προσέρχετʼ ἐπικαλούμενος, μεθύουσά τʼ ἐξόπισθεν σοφωτάτη Ἀποτυμπανισχὰς κατὰ πόδας πορεύεται. Πολύευκτον δʼ Ἀναξανδρίδης ἐν Τηρεῖ κωμῳδῶν· ὄρνις κεκλήσῃ (φησί.) Β. διὰ τί, πρὸς τῆς Ἑστίας; πότερον καταφαγὼν τὴν πατρῴαν οὐσίαν, ὥσπερ Πολύευκτος καλός; Α. οὐ δῆτʼ, ἀλλʼ ὅτι ἄρρην ὑπὸ θηλειῶν κατεκόπης. Θεόπομπος δʼ ἐν τῇ δεκάτῃ τῶν Φιλιππικῶν, ἀφʼ ἧς τινες τὸ τελευταῖον μέρος χωρίσαντες, ἐν ἐστι τὰ περὶ τῶν Ἀθήνησι δημαγωγῶν, ... Εὔβουλόν φησι τὸν δημαγωγὸν ἄσωτον γενέσθαι. τῇ λέξει δὲ ταύτῃ ἐχρήσατο· καὶ τοσοῦτον ἀσωτίᾳ καὶ πλεονεξίᾳ διενήνοχε τοῦ δήμου τοῦ Ταραντίνων ὅσον μὲν περὶ τὰς ἑστιάσεις εἶχε μόνον ἀκρατῶς, δὲ τῶν Ἀθηναίων καὶ τὰς προσόδους καταμισθοφορῶν διατετέλεκε. Καλλίστρατος δέ, φησίν, Καλλικράτους δημαγωγὸς καὶ αὐτὸς πρὸς μὲν τὰς ἡδονὰς ἦν ἀκρατής, τῶν δὲ πολιτικῶν πραγμάτων ἦν ἐπιμελής. περὶ δὲ τῶν Ταραντίνων ἱστορῶν ἐν τῇ δευτέρα καὶ πεντηκοστῇ τῶν ἱστοριῶν γράφει οὕτως· πόλις τῶν Ταραντίνων σχεδὸν καθʼ ἕκαστον μῆνα βουθυτεῖ καὶ δημοσίας ἑστιάσεις ποιεῖται. τὸ δὲ τῶν ἰδιωτῶν πλῆθος αἰεὶ περὶ συνουσίας καὶ πότους ἐστί. λέγουσι δὲ καί τινα τοιοῦτον λόγον οἱ Ταραντῖνοι, τοὺς μὲν ἄλλους ἀνθρώπους διὰ τὸ φιλοπονεῖσθαι καὶ περὶ τὰς ἐργασίας διατρίβειν παρασκευάζεσθαι ζῆν, αὐτοὺς δὲ διὰ τὰς συνουσίας καὶ τὰς ἡδονὰς οὐ μέλλειν, ἀλλʼ ἤδη βιῶναι.

The Digital Athenaeus is providing the text of the Teubner edition of the Deipnosophists by Georg Kaibel (1887-1890), which is cataloged as perseus-grc2 in the Perseus Catalog.

The syntax of the URNs follows the specification of the CITE Architecture.
