Ἱκέσιος δʼ ἐν βʹ περὶ ὕλης πηλαμύδας κύβια εἶναί φησι μεγάλα. κυβίων δὲ μνημονεύει Ποσείδιππος ἐν Μεταφερομένῳ Εὐθύδημος ἐν τῷ περὶ ταρίχων τὸν δελκανόν φησιν ἰχθὺν ὀνομάζεσθαι ἀπὸ Δέλκωνος τοῦ ποταμοῦ, ἀφʼ οὗπερ καὶ ἁλίκεσθαι, καὶ ταριχευόμενον εὐστομαχώτατον εἶναι. Δωρίων δʼ ἐν τῷ περὶ ἰχθύων τὸν λεπτηνὸν λεβίαν ὀνομάζων φησὶ λέγειν τινὰς ὡς αὐτός ἐστι τῷ δελκανῷ, τὸν δὲ κορακῖνον ὑπὸ πολλῶν λέγεσθαι σαπέρδην καὶ εἶναι κράτιστον τὸν ἐκ τῆς Μαιώτιδος λίμνης. θαυμαστοὺς δὲ εἶναι λέγει καὶ τοὺς περὶ Ἄβδηρα ἁλισκομένους κεστρεῖς, μεθʼ οὓς τοὺς περὶ Σινώπην, καὶ ταριχευομένους εὐστομάχους ὑπάρχειν. τοὺς δὲ προσαγορευομένους φησὶ μύλλους ὑπὸ μέν τινων καλεῖσθαι ἀγνωτίδια, ὑπὸ δέ τινων πλατιστάκους ὄντας τοὺς αὐτούς, καθάπερ καὶ τὸν χελλαρίην· καὶ γὰρ τοῦτον ἕνα ὄντα ἰχθὺν πολλῶν ὀνομασιῶν τετυχηκέναι· καλεῖσθαι γὰρ καὶ βάκχον καὶ ὀνίσκον καὶ χελλαρίην. οἱ μὲν οὖν μείζονες αὐτῶν ὀνομάζονται πλατίστακοι, οἱ δὲ μέσην ἔχοντες ἡλικίαν μύλλοι, οἱ δὲ βαιοὶ τοῖς μεγέθεσιν ἀγνωτίδια. μνημονεύει δὲ τῶν μύλλων καὶ Ἀριστοφάνης ἐν Ὁλκάσι· σκόμβροι, κολίαι, λεβίαι, μύλλοι, σαπέρδαι, θυννίδες.

The Digital Athenaeus is providing the text of the Teubner edition of the Deipnosophists by Georg Kaibel (1887-1890), which is cataloged as perseus-grc2 in the Perseus Catalog.

The syntax of the URNs follows the specification of the CITE Architecture.
