εἰς ταῦτʼ οὖν τις ἀποβλέπων, ἄνδρες φίλοι, εἰκότως ἂν ἐπαινέσειεν τὸν καλὸν Χρύσιππον κατιδόντα ἀκριβῶς τὴν Ἐπικούρου φύσιν καὶ εἰπόντα μητρόπολιν εἶναι τῆς φιλοσοφίας αὐτοῦ τὴν Ἀρχεστράτου Γαστρολογίαν, ἣν πάντες οἱ τῶν φιλοσόφων γαστρίμαργοι Θέογνίν τινα αὑτῶν εἶναι λέγουσι τὴν καλὴν ταύτην ἐποποιίαν. πρὸς οὓς καὶ Θεόγνητος ἐν Φάσματι Φιλαργύρῳ φησὶν ἐκ τούτων· ἄνθρωπʼ, ἀπολεῖς με. τῶν γὰρ ἐκ τῆς ποικίλης στοᾶς λογαρίων ἀναπεπλησμένος νοσεῖς· ἀλλότριόν ἐσθʼ πλοῦτος ἀνθρώπῳ, πάχνη· σοφία δʼ ἴδιον, κρύσταλλος. οὐθεὶς πώποτε ταύτην λαβὼν ἀπώλεσʼ. τάλας ἐγώ, οἵῳ μʼ δαίμων φιλοσόφῳ συνῴκισεν. ἐπαρίστερʼ ἔμαθες, πόνηρε, γράμματα· ἀντέστροφέν σου τὸν βίον τὰ βιβλία· πεφιλοσόφηκας γῇ τε κοὐρανῷ λαλῶν, οἷς οὐθέν ἐστιν ἐπιμελὲς τῶν λόγων.

CTS URN Retriever

The CTS URN retriever is a tool for retrieving and citing paragraphs, passages, and words in the text of the Deipnosophists by typing the corresponding CTS URN. The Digital Athenaeus is providing the text of the Teubner edition of the Deipnosophists by Georg Kaibel (1887-1890), which is cataloged as perseus-grc2 in the Perseus Catalog.

The syntax of the URNs follows the specification of the CITE Architecture.
