τῶν δὲ προδρόμων καλουμένων σύκων αὐτὸς Θεόφραστος μνημονεύει ἐν εʹ φυτικῶν αἰτίων οὕτως· τῇ συκῇ ὅταν ἀὴρ ἐπιγένηται μαλακὸς καὶ ὑγρὸς καὶ θερμός, ἐξεκαλέσατο τὴν βλάστησιν· ὅθεν καὶ οἱ πρόδρομοι. καὶ προελθὼν τάδε λέγει· πάλιν δὲ τοὺς προδρόμους αἳ μὲν φέρουσιν, τε Λακωνικὴ καὶ λευκομφάλιος καὶ ἕτεραι πλείους, αἳ δʼ οὐ φέρουσι. Σέλευκος δʼ ἐν Γλώσσαις πρῳτερικήν φησι καλεῖσθαι γένος τι συκῆς, ἥτις φέρει πρώιον τὸν καρπόν. διφόρου δὲ συκῆς μνημονεύει καὶ Ἀριστοφάνης ἐν Ἐκκλησιαζούσαις· ὑμᾶς δὲ τέως θρῖα λαβόντας διφόρου συκῆς. καὶ Ἀντιφάνης ἐν Σκληρίαις· ἔστι γὰρ παρʼ αὐτὴν τὴν δίφορον συκῆν κάτω. Θεόπομπος δὲ ἐν τῇ πεντηκοστῇ τετάρτῃ τῶν ἱστοριῶν κατὰ τὴν Φιλίππου φησὶν ἀρχὴν περὶ τὴν Βισαλτίαν καὶ Ἀμφίπολιν καὶ Γραστωνίαν τῆς Μακεδονίας ἔαρος μεσοῦντος τὰς μὲν συκᾶς σῦκα, τὰς δʼ ἀμπέλους βότρυς, τὰς δʼ ἐλαίας ἐν χρόνῳ βρύειν εἰκὸς ἦν αὐτὰς ἐλαίας ἐνεγκεῖν, καὶ εὐτυχῆσαι πάντα Φίλιππον. ἐν δὲ τῷ δευτέρῳ περὶ φυτῶν Θεόφραστος καὶ τὸν ἐρινεὸν εἶναί φησι δίφορον· οἳ δὲ καὶ τρίφορον, ὥσπερ ἐν Κέῳ.

CTS URN Retriever

The Digital Athenaeus is providing the text of the Teubner edition of the Deipnosophists by Georg Kaibel (1887-1890), which is cataloged as perseus-grc2 in the Perseus Catalog.

The syntax of the URNs follows the specification of the CITE Architecture.

Using CTS URNs, it is possible to export citations of the Deipnosophists down to the word level. By selecting a portion of text holding down the ALT-key, users get a pop-up window with the CTS URN that identifies the selected chunk of text.
