ΣΥΚΑΜΙΝΑ. ὅτι πάντων ἁπλῶς οὕτω καλούντων αὐτὰ Ἀλεξανδρεῖς μόνοι μόρα ὀνομάζουσι. συκάμινα δὲ οὐ τὰ ἀπὸ τῆς Αἰγυπτίας συκῆς, τινες συκόμορα λέγουσιν. ἅπερ οἱ ἐπιχώριοι ἐπὶ βραχὺ κνίσαντες σιδηρίῳ ἐῶσιν ἐπὶ τοῦ φυτοῦ· καὶ ὑπὸ τοῦ ἀνέμου κινούμενα ἐντὸς ἡμερῶν τριῶν οὕτω πέπονα καὶ εὐώδη γίνονται, μάλιστα δὲ ζεφύρων πνευσάντων, καὶ ἐδώδιμα ὡς διὰ τὸ ἐν αὐτοῖς ἠρέμα ψυχρὸν καὶ τοῖς πυρεταίνουσι μετὰ ῥοδίνου ἐλαίου καταπλαττόμενα ἐπὶ τοῦ στομάχου ἐπιτίθεσθαι καὶ οὐκ ὀλίγα παρηγορεῖσθαι τοὺς νοσοῦντας. φέρει δὲ τὸν καρπὸν τοῦτον Αἰγυπτία συκάμινος ἀπὸ τοῦ ξύλου καὶ οὐκ ἀπὸ τῶν ἐπικαρπίων. μόρα δὲ τὰ συκάμινα καὶ παρʼ Αἰσχύλῳ ἐν Φρυξὶν ἐπὶ τοῦ Ἕκτορος· ἀνὴρ δʼ ἐκεῖνος ἦν πεπαίτερος μόρων. ἐν δὲ Κρήσσαις καὶ κατὰ τῆς βάτου· λευκοῖς τε γὰρ μόροισι καὶ μελαγχίμοις καὶ μιλτοπρέπτοις βρίθεται ταὐτοῦ χρόνου. Σοφοκλῆς· πρῶτον μὲν ὄψει λευκὸν ἀνθοῦντα στάχυν, ἔπειτα φοινίξαντα γογγύλον μόρον. καὶ Νίκανδρος δὲ ἐν Γεωργικοῖς ἐμφανίζει καὶ ὅτι πρότερον τῶν ἄλλων ἀκροδρύων φαίνεται μορέην τε καλεῖ τὸ δένδρον ἀεί, ὡς καὶ οἱ Ἀλεξανδρεῖς· καὶ μορέης, παισὶ πέλει μείλιγμα νέοισι, πρῶτον ἀπαγγέλλουσα βροτοῖς ἡδεῖαν ὀπώρην.

CTS URN Retriever

The Digital Athenaeus is providing the text of the Teubner edition of the Deipnosophists by Georg Kaibel (1887-1890), which is cataloged as perseus-grc2 in the Perseus Catalog.

The syntax of the URNs follows the specification of the CITE Architecture.
