σταθμήσας τὸ ἀπὸ τῆς ἐν Κορίνθῳ Πειρήνης καλουμένης ὕδωρ κουφότερον πάντων εὗρον τῶν κατὰ τὴν Ἑλλάδα. οὐ γὰρ Ἀντιφάνει τῷ κωμικῷ πεπίστευκα λέγοντι κατὰ πολλὰ τὴν Ἀττικὴν διαφέρουσαν τῶν ἄλλων καὶ ὕδωρ κάλλιστον ἔχειν. φησὶ γάρ· οἷα δʼ χώρα φέρει διαφέροντα πάσης, Ἱππόνικε, τῆς οἰκουμένης, τὸ μέλι, τοὺς ἄρτους, τὰ σῦκα. Β. σῦκα μέν, νὴ τὸν Δία, πάνυ φέρει. Α. βοσκήματʼ, ἔρια, μύρτα, θύμα, πυρούς, ὕδωρ, ὥστε καὶ γνοίην ἂν εὐθὺς Ἀττικὸν πίνων ὕδωρ. τὸ ὕδωρ ποταμοῦ σῶμά φησί που Εὔβουλος κωμῳδιοποιὸς εἰρηκέναι Χαιρήμονα τὸν τραγικόν· ἐπεὶ δὲ σηκῶν περιβολὰς ἠμείψαμεν ὕδωρ τε ποταμοῦ σῶμα διεπεράσαμεν. καὶ ἡμῶν δὲ πᾶσα δύναμις ἐξ ὑδάτων ἄρδεται. ἐν Τήνῳ κρήνη ἐστὶν ἧς τῷ ὕδατι οἶνος οὐ μίγνυται. Ἡρόδοτος δὲ ἐν τετάρτῃ τὸν Ὕπανίν φησιν ἀπὸ μὲν τῶν πηγῶν φερόμενον ἐπὶ πέντε ἡμέρας βραχὺν εἶναι καὶ γλυκύν, μετὰ δὲ ἄλλων τεσσάρων ἡμερῶν πλόον πικρὸν γίνεσθαι ἐκδιδούσης εἰς αὐτὸν κρήνης τινὸς πικρᾶς. Θεόπομπος δέ φησι περὶ τὸν Ἐριγῶνα ποταμὸν ὀξὺ εἶναι ὕδωρ καὶ τοὺς πίνοντας αὐτὸ μεθύσκεσθαι καθὰ καὶ τοὺς τὸν οἶνον.

The syntax of the URNs follows the specification of the CITE Architecture.

Using CTS URNs, it is possible to export citations of the Deipnosophists down to the word level. By selecting a portion of text holding down the ALT-key, users get a pop-up window with the CTS URN that identifies the selected chunk of text.
