ΠΕΛΛΑ ἀγγεῖον σκυφοειδές, πυθμένα ἔχον πλατύτερον, εἰς ἤμελγον τὸ γάλα. Ὅμηρος· ὡς ὅτε μυῖαι σταθμῷ ἐνιβρομέωσιν ἐυγλαγέας κατὰ πέλλας. τοῦτο δὲ Ἱππῶναξ λέγει πελλίδα· ἐκ πελλίδος πίνοντες· οὐ γὰρ ἦν αὐτῇ κύλιξ, παῖς γὰρ ἐμπεσὼν κατήραξε, δῆλον, οἶμαι, ποιῶν ὅτι ποτήριον μὲν οὐκ ἦν, διʼ ἀπορίαν δὲ κύλικος ἐχρῶντο τῇ πελλίδι. καὶ πάλιν· ἐκ δὲ τῆς πέλλης ἔπινον, ἄλλοτʼ αὐτός, ἄλλοτʼ Ἀρήτη προὔπινεν. Φοῖνιξ δʼ Κολοφώνιος ἐν τοῖς Ἰάμβοις ἐπὶ φιάλης τίθησι τὴν λέξιν λέγων οὕτως· Θαλῆς γάρ, ὅστις ἀστέρων ὀνήιστος ... καὶ τῶν τότʼ, ὡς λέγουσι, πολλὸν ἀνθρώπων ἐὼν ἄριστος, ἔλαβε πελλίδα χρυσῆν. καὶ ἐν ἄλλῳ δὲ μέρει φησίν· ἐκ πελλίδος δὲ τάργανον κατηγυίης χωλοῖσι δακτύλοισι τἠτέρῃ σπένδει, τρέμων οἷόνπερ ἐν βορηίῳ νωδός. Κλείταρχος δὲ ἐν ταῖς Γλώσσαις πελλητῆρα μὲν καλεῖν Θεσσαλοὺς καὶ Αἰολεῖς τὸν ἀμολγέα, πέλλαν δὲ τὸ ποτήριον. Φιλητᾶς δʼ ἐν Ἀτάκτοις τὴν κύλικα Βοιωτούς.

CTS URN Retriever

The Digital Athenaeus is providing the text of the Teubner edition of the Deipnosophists by Georg Kaibel (1887-1890), which is cataloged as perseus-grc2 in the Perseus Catalog.

The syntax of the URNs follows the specification of the CITE Architecture.
