πρὸς δὲ τοὺς λέγοντας οὐκ οἰκείως τῷ ποτηρίῳ ἐντετυπῶσθαι τὰς Πλειάδας, ξηρῶν τροφῶν οὔσας σημαντικάς, λεκτέον ὅτι τὸ δέπας ἀμφοτέρων τῶν τροφῶν ἐστιν δεκτικόν. κυκεὼν γὰρ ἐν αὐτῷ γίνεται· τοῦτο δʼ ἐστὶ πόσις ἐν τῷ κράματι τυρὸν ἔχουσα καὶ ἄλφιτον· ἄμφω δὲ ταῦτα κυκώμενα καὶ οὕτω πινόμενα λέγει ποιητής· τοῖσι δὲ τεῦχε κυκεῶ ἐυπλόκαμος Ἑκαμήδη ... σφῶιν πρῶτον μὲν ἐπιπροίηλε τράπεζαν καλὴν κυανόπεζαν ἐύξοον, αὐτὰρ ἐπʼ αὐτῆς χάλκειον κάνεον· ἐπὶ δὲ κρόμυον ποτῷ ὄψον ἠδὲ μέλι χλωρόν, παρὰ δʼ ἀλφίτου ἱεροῦ ἀκτήν, πὰρ δὲ δέπας περικαλλές, οἴκοθεν ἦγʼ γεραιός ... ἐν τῷ ῥά σφι κύκησε γυνὴ εἰκυῖα θεῇσιν οἴνῳ Πραμνείῳ, ἐπὶ δʼ αἴγειον κνῆ τυρὸν κνήστι χαλκείῃ, ἐπὶ δʼ ἄλφιτα λευκὰ πάλυνεν· πινέμεναι δʼ ἐκέλευεν, ἐπεί ῥʼ ὥπλισσε κυκεῶ.

CTS URN Retriever

The CTS URN retriever is a tool for retrieving and citing paragraphs, passages, and words in the text of the Deipnosophists by typing the corresponding CTS URN. The Digital Athenaeus is providing the text of the Teubner edition of the Deipnosophists by Georg Kaibel (1887-1890), which is cataloged as perseus-grc2 in the Perseus Catalog.

The syntax of the URNs follows the specification of the CITE Architecture.

Using CTS URNs, it is possible to export citations of the Deipnosophists down to the word level. By selecting a portion of text holding down the ALT-key, users get a pop-up window with the CTS URN that identifies the selected chunk of text.
