διάφοροι δὲ κύλικες γίνονται καὶ ἐν τῇ τοῦ συσσίτου ἡμῶν Ἀθηναίου πατρίδι Ναυκράτει. εἰσὶν γὰρ φιαλώδεις μέν, οὐ κατὰ τόρνον, ἀλλʼ ὥσπερ δακτύλῳ πεποιημέναι, καὶ ἔχουσιν ὦτα τέσσαρα, πυθμένα εἰς πλάτος ἐκτεταμένον (πολλοὶ δʼ ἐν τῇ Ναυκράτει κεραμεῖς ἀφʼ ὧν καὶ ἡ πλησίον τῶν κεραμείων πύλη Κεραμικὴ καλεῖται) καὶ βάπτονται εἰς τὸ δοκεῖν εἶναι ἀργυραῖ. ἐπαινοῦνται δὲ καὶ αἱ Χῖαι κύλικες, ὧν μνημονεύει Ἕρμιππος ἐν Στρατιώταις· Χία δὲ κύλιξ ὑψοῦ κρέμαται περὶ πασσαλόφιν. Γλαύκων δʼ ἐν ταῖς Γλώσσαις Κυπρίους φησὶ τὴν κοτύλην κύλικα καλεῖν. Ἑρμῶναξ δʼ ἐν Συνωνύμοις οὕτως γράφει· ἄλεισον, ποτήριον, κύπελλον, ἄμφωτις, σκύφος, κύλιξ, κώθων, καρχήσιον, φιάλη. Ἀχαιὸς δὲ ὁ Ἐρετριεὺς ἐν Ἀλκμαίωνι ἀντὶ τοῦ κύλικες παραγώγως κυλιχνίδας εἴρηκε διὰ τούτων· ἀλλʼ ὡς τάχιστα μέλανα δεῦρʼ ἀμνὸν φέρειν κοινόν τε χρὴ κρατῆρα καὶ κυλιχνίδας. καὶ Ἀλκαῖος ἐν τῷ ..· πίνωμεν· τί τὰ λύχνʼ ὀμμένομεν; δάκτυλος ἁμέρα. κὰδ δʼ ἄειρε κυλίχναις μεγάλαις, αιταποικιλλις. οἶνον γὰρ Σεμέλας καὶ Διὸς υἱὸς λαθικαδέα ἀνθρώποισιν ἔδωκʼ. ἔγχεε κέρναις ἕνα καὶ δύο πλέαις κὰκ κεφαλᾶς. καὶ ἐν τῷ δεκάτῳ· λάταγες ποτέονται κυλιχνᾶν ἀπὸ Τηιᾶν, ὡς διαφόρων γινομένων καὶ ἐν Τέῳ κυλίκων.

CTS URN Retriever
The CTS URN retriever is a tool for retrieving and citing paragraphs, passages, and words in the text of the Deipnosophists by typing the corresponding CTS URN. The Digital Athenaeus is providing the text of the Teubner edition of the Deipnosophists by Georg Kaibel (1887-1890), which is cataloged as perseus-grc2 in the Perseus Catalog.
The syntax of the URNs follows the specification of the CITE Architecture.

The icons on the left of each paragraph are links to external resources:
- list icon : automatic alignment of index entries with the Greek text of the Deipnosophists (indices by August Meineke, Georg Kaibel, and S. Douglas Olson);
- tag icon : POS tagging of the text through the OpenNLP POSTagger for Ancient Greek.
Using CTS URNs, it is possible to export citations of the Deipnosophists down to the word level. By selecting a portion of text holding down the ALT-key, users get a pop-up window with the CTS URN that identifies the selected chunk of text.
