πίομαι δὲ ἄνευ τοῦ υ λεκτέον, ἐκτείνοντας δὲ τὸ ι. οὕτω γὰρ ἔχει καὶ τὸ Ὁμηρικόν· πιόμενʼ ἐκ βοτάνης. καὶ Ἀριστοφάνης Ἱππεῦσιν· οὔποτʼ ἐκ ταὐτοῦ μεθʼ ἡμῶν πίεται ποτηρίου. καὶ ἐν ἄλλοις· πικρότατον οἶνον τήμερον πίει τάχα. ὡς ἀπὸ τοῦ πιοῦμαι ἐνίοτε δὲ καὶ συστέλλουσι τὸ ι, ὡς Πλάτων ἐν Ταῖς ἀφʼ ἱερῶν· οὐδʼ ὅστις αὐτῆς ἐκπίεται τὰ χρήματα. καὶ ἐν Σύρφακι· καὶ πίεσθʼ ὕδωρ πολύ. πίε δὲ δισυλλάβως Μένανδρος ἐν Ἐγχειριδίῳ· πίε. Β. πιεῖν ἀναγκάσω τὴν ἱερόσυλον πρῶτα. καὶ τῆ πίε· καὶ πῖνε καὶ σὺ οὖν, ἑταῖρε, κατὰ τὸν Ἄλεξιν, ὃς ἐν Διδύμοις φησί· τούτῳ πρόπιθʼ, ἵνα καὐτὸς ἄλλῳ καὶ γένηται παρʼ Ἀνακρέοντι καλουμένη ἐπίστιος. φησὶ γὰρ μελοποιός· μηδʼ ὥστε κῦμα πόντιον λάλαζε, τῇ πολυκρότῃ σὺν Γαστροδώρῃ καταχύδην πίνουσα τὴν ἐπίστιον. τοῦτο δʼ ἡμεῖς ἀνίσωμά φαμεν.

CTS URN Retriever

The CTS URN retriever is a tool for retrieving and citing paragraphs, passages, and words in the text of the Deipnosophists by typing the corresponding CTS URN. The Digital Athenaeus is providing the text of the Teubner edition of the Deipnosophists by Georg Kaibel (1887-1890), which is cataloged as perseus-grc2 in the Perseus Catalog.

The syntax of the URNs follows the specification of the CITE Architecture.

Using CTS URNs, it is possible to export citations of the Deipnosophists down to the word level. By selecting a portion of text holding down the ALT-key, users get a pop-up window with the CTS URN that identifies the selected chunk of text.
