ἐπὶ τούτοις τοῖς λόγοις ἐκπίνων τὸ ποτήριον Οὐλπιανὸς ἔφη· τήνδʼ ἐγὼ μεστὴν ἅπαξ ἐπονομάσας προπίομαι συγγενέσι πίστωμα φιλίας. πρὸς ὃν ἔτι πίνοντα τῶν παρόντων τις προσέθηκε τὰ λειπόμενα ἰαμβεῖα· πιὼν ἐρῶ τὰ λοιπά· πνίγομαι γάρ. ἀλλʼ ἐπιρρόφει. καὶ Οὐλπιανὸς ἐκπιὼν ἔφη· ταῦτα μὲν Κλέαρχος ἐν Κιθαρῳδῷ ἐγὼ δὲ κατὰ τοὺς Ἄμφιδος Ἐρίθους παρακελεύομαι· παῖς σοβείτω τοῖς ποτηρίοις συχνούς. καί· πίμπλα σὺ μὲν ἐμοί, σοὶ δʼ ἐγὼ δώσω πιεῖν· ἀμυγδαλῆ μὲν παιζέτω παρʼ ἀμυγδαλῆν. ταῦτα δʼ ἔφη Ξέναρχος ἐν Διδύμοις αἰτούντων οὖν τῶν μὲν πλέον οἴνου, τῶν δὲ ἴσον ἴσῳ φασκόντων κίρνασθαι, καὶ εἰπόντος τινὸς Ἄρχιππον εἰρηκέναι ἐν δευτέρῳ Ἀμφιτρύωνι· τίς ἐκέρασε σφῶν, κακόδαιμον, ἴσον ἴσῳ; καὶ Κρατῖνος ἐν Πυτίνῃ· τὸν δʼ ἴσον ἴσῳ φέροντʼ· ἐγὼ δʼ ἐκτήκομαι, ἔδοξε πᾶσι λέγειν περὶ τῶν κράσεων τῶν παρὰ τοῖς ἀρχαίοις.

CTS URN Retriever

The CTS URN retriever is a tool for retrieving and citing paragraphs, passages, and words in the text of the Deipnosophists by typing the corresponding CTS URN. The Digital Athenaeus is providing the text of the Teubner edition of the Deipnosophists by Georg Kaibel (1887-1890), which is cataloged as perseus-grc2 in the Perseus Catalog.

The syntax of the URNs follows the specification of the CITE Architecture.

Using CTS URNs, it is possible to export citations of the Deipnosophists down to the word level. By selecting a portion of text holding down the ALT-key, users get a pop-up window with the CTS URN that identifies the selected chunk of text.
