θαυμάζεται δὲ καὶ ὁ Ἰκάριος οἶνος, ὡς Ἄμφις· ἐν Θουρίοις τοὔλαιον, ἐν Γέλᾳ φακοί, Ἰκάριος οἶνος, ἰσχάδες Κιμώλιαι. γίνεται δὲ ἐν Ἰκάρῳ, φησὶν Ἐπαρχίδης, ὁ πράμνιος. ἐστὶ δὲ οὗτος γένος τι οἴνου. καί ἐστιν οὗτος οὔτε γλυκὺς οὔτε παχύς, ἀλλʼ αὐστηρὸς καὶ σκληρὸς καὶ δύναμιν ἔχων διαφέρουσαν· οἵῳ Ἀριστοφάνης οὐχ ἥδεσθαι Ἀθηναίους φησί λέγων τὸν Ἀθηναίων δῆμον οὔτε ποιηταῖς ἥδεσθαι σκληροῖς καὶ ἀστεμφέσιν οὔτε πραμνίοις σκληροῖσιν οἴνοις συνάγουσι τὰς ὀφρῦς τε καὶ τὴν κοιλίαν, ἀλλʼ ἀνθοσμίᾳ καὶ πέπονι νεκταροσταγεῖ. εἶναι γὰρ ἐν Ἰκάρῳ φησὶ Σῆμος Πράμνιον πέτραν καὶ παρʼ αὐτῇ ὄρος μέγα, ἀφʼ οὗ τὸν Πράμνιον οἶνον, ὃν καὶ φαρμακίτην τινὰς καλεῖν. ἐκαλεῖτο δὲ ἡ Ἴκαρος πρότερον Ἰχθυόεσσα διὰ τὸ ἐν αὐτῇ τῶν ἰχθύων πλῆθος, ὡς καὶ Ἐχινάδες ἀπὸ τῶν ἐχίνων καὶ Σηπιὰς ἄκρα ἀπὸ τῶν περὶ αὐτὴν σηπιῶν καὶ Λαγοῦσσαι νῆσοι ἀπὸ τῶν ἐν αὐταῖς λαγωῶν καὶ ἕτεραι Φυκοῦσσαι καὶ Λοπαδοῦσσαι ἀπὸ τῶν παραπλησίων. προσαγορεύεται δέ, φησὶν Ἐπαρχίδης, ἡ ἄμπελος ἡ τὸν Ἰκάριον πράμνιον φέρουσα ὑπὸ τῶν ξένων μὲν ἱερά, ὑπὸ δὲ τῶν Οἰνοαίων Διονυσιάς. Οἰνόη δὲ πόλις ἐν τῇ νήσῳ ἐστί. Δίδυμος δὲ πράμνιόν φησιν οἶνον ἀπὸ πραμνίας ἀμπέλου οὕτω καλουμένης, οἳ δὲ ἰδίως τὸν μέλανα, ἔνιοι δὲ ἐν τῷ καθόλου τὸν πρὸς παραμονὴν ἐπιτήδειον οἱονεὶ παραμόνιον ὄντα· οἳ δὲ τὸν πραύνοντα τὸ μένος, ἐπεὶ οἱ πιόντες προσηνεῖς.

CTS URN Retriever
The CTS URN retriever is a tool for retrieving and citing paragraphs, passages, and words in the text of the Deipnosophists by typing the corresponding CTS URN. The Digital Athenaeus is providing the text of the Teubner edition of the Deipnosophists by Georg Kaibel (1887-1890), which is cataloged as perseus-grc2 in the Perseus Catalog.
The syntax of the URNs follows the specification of the CITE Architecture.

The icons on the left of each paragraph are links to external resources:
- list icon : automatic alignment of index entries with the Greek text of the Deipnosophists (indices by August Meineke, Georg Kaibel, and S. Douglas Olson);
- tag icon : POS tagging of the text through the OpenNLP POSTagger for Ancient Greek.
Using CTS URNs, it is possible to export citations of the Deipnosophists down to the word level. By selecting a portion of text holding down the ALT-key, users get a pop-up window with the CTS URN that identifies the selected chunk of text.
